Researchers from the UP IAM InnoRenew CoE department, Dr. Andreja Kutnar, Dr. Mike Burnard, and Dr. Sonja Jantar, attended the first conference of the New European Bauhaus Academy on February 27, 2026, in Barcelona, Spain.

At the event, they presented key competencies and innovations for sustainable construction and a resilient future for Europe. Dr. Andreja Kutnar, Coordinator of the NEB Academy, highlighted the NEBA Alliance, a European network of educational hubs, emphasizing the alliance's role in connecting stakeholders and promoting knowledge exchange and skill development within the construction sector.

The conference focused on the significance of architecture and construction in addressing the climate crisis by integrating education, sustainability, and innovative approaches. Participants explored best practices for developing sustainable building skills and

examined the Academy's vision for creating aesthetic, inclusive, and regenerative built environments across Europe. The event was co-organized by the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), InnovaWood, and UP IAM InnoRenew CoE as part of the UNESCO-UIA Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture program.
